New online home, come see me

I may not always be consistent with blogging.

But when I DO blog, I just can’t be satisfied with doing so on! I need more control over it all. ¬†Does that make me some kind of snob? Probably.

Anyway, I spent a long time mulling over domain names, web hosts, and all those other important first steps to creating a website and lo and behold, was born!

I invite anyone reading to come visit me there, and if you have me linked, please update them! ūüėÄ

See you there!

It just isn’t Christmas without stress and emotional trauma

I am relishing this moment of peace and solitude.

Because the rest of this month is going to be CRAZY HECTIC with a capital FUCK.

There was an accident last week at the restaurant where I work involving a family member and a gas powered smoker. ¬†Long story short (and without giving away too many personal details), the gas ignited when she tried to light it (as she always has in the past) and it blew up in her face resulting in several severe burns. ¬†Luckily, she’ll be alright. ¬†However, it couldn’t have happened at a worse time. ¬†My heart goes out to her.

I’m covering her shifts now until she’s able to work again, but no one really knows how long that will be. ¬†Most definitely until the beginning of the year at least, but probably even longer than that. ¬†My schedule is going to be PACKED for a while, but that’s not really the point. ¬†I’m just glad the situation isn’t any worse than what it is.

The downside to working all the time now is that I’ve been putting off finishing my Christmas shopping and now I need to find some time to squeeze it in before it’s too late. ¬†I’m thinking about just ordering everything off Amazon! ¬†I’ve never been much of an online shopper, but what better time than now to start?

Should be easy enough.

Okay, maybe not THAT easy.  It was worth a try.

In some other unrelated news, I have plans for this blog and countless other things (recipes, craft projects, etc.) but unfortunately I think it will all have to wait until after the new year to come to fruition. ¬†I’m just going to take this time to focus on what’s really important – my family, my job, and (hopefully) making the holidays as happy and exciting as possible.

Wrapping up NaBloPoMo

Today marks the end of NaBloPoMo…thank GOD.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy blogging…I do, and I have for a very long time. ¬†But I’ve discovered that blogging every single day can become a mundane chore very quickly if you let it. ¬†It’s very easily done.

Nevertheless, I have SUCCEEDED! I successfully blogged every day for the past month and that makes me feel all special and stuff. I started this blog specifically for this project and I didn’t give up on it. ¬†Even though there were certainly times I wanted to. ¬†Ha, listen to me go on about my imaginary accomplishment.

Below, a list of all NaBloPoMo posts here on A Fine Reflection, starting with the most recent.

Rushing to get started

After this, I plan on taking a freakin’ break for a few days!

I made a deal with myself that if I made it through NaBloPoMo without missing any days, I would reward myself for my commitment with a new domain and a self-hosted WordPress blog. ¬†Just like the good ol’ days.

Problem is, it’s been a long time since I’ve done any of that. ¬†And I have some questions for my fellow blog friends! Your answers are greatly appreciated.

Which company did you choose for domain registration?

Who is your host? Would you recommend them?

Are their prices reasonable?

I’ll have to think it all over some more, but I think I’m gonna do it soon.

Sauce packets

I am just one of the many people in this world who holds on to things with the intent of actually finding them useful in the near future. Waste not, want not as the saying goes.  I particularly like collecting sauce packets from restaurants.

I always pick up the pile and try to put them back where they belong.  Then I try again when they fall. And again. And again.

Until finally…

And then the cycle starts again soon afterward.  I never learn.

Some A’s for your Q’s

First and foremost, I’d like to thank everyone who asked questions on Saturday’s Q&A post! ¬†You have made my life – for pretending to care about my mundane shenanigans. (Just kidding, I know I’m mad interesting yo). Not really. Maybe a little.

Here are your questions answered.

Dez asked…

What types of games are you into?

Wii – Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii

Xbox 360 – Dance Central 1 & 2. (I once tried playing Call of Duty multiplayer with Josh…I completely suck at it).

Nintendo DS – All the Lego installments…and of course New Super Mario Bros. ¬†I really like Mario games, can you tell?

Phone – I’m totally hooked on Words With Friends!

What made you decide to lose weight?

Last January I saw some candid pictures of me taken at a Christmas gathering and I cringed.  I just decided that I was tired of being tired, overweight, and unhappy with my body.  It was at that point I decided to change it.

What are some of your favorite meals?

Oh man, this will be  tough one because I LOVE to eat.  Some of my favorites are Spaghetti with garlic bread sticks, homemade soups (chicken noodle, vegetable beef, bean & tomato), and chili.  I also love this trio: marinated grilled chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes!

What turns you off in a friendship?

When the other person has a constant ‘woe is me’ attitude for no good reason and/or they are always unhappy or unappreciative for what they have. ¬†I’m not a fan of pity parties, and I don’t attend the ones I’m invited to.

Sassyray asked…

What’s the last good book you read?

“The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. ¬†Really great read about an ‘end of times’ scenario!

What do you miss most about being a kid?

Being stress and worry free. ¬†Not having to worry about finances, a career, the mortgage, car repair…I remember a time when my biggest complaint about any given day was going to school and learning things. ¬†Maybe even writing some things down on paper. ¬†Man, I had it rough. ¬†If it were only still that simple. ¬†How great would it be just to be able to go back and have NOTHING TO DO except play ‘beach’ with my barbies in the bathroom sink all afternoon until time for dinner – one that I didn’t have to plan for, pay for, or cook…I should really thank my mom more often!

What 2 things could you not live without?

Assuming we’re talking about material possessions here, I’d have to say I could go without most modern day luxuries if I had to – internet, tv, cell phone, etc. ¬†Not saying I would LIKE it (it would totally suck…suck real hard), but I could do it. As long as I still had my family, I’d make it just fine!

Sunday nights are for TV

At my house anyway.

We love The Walking Dead and Dexter.  They both come on at the same time and we often have trouble deciding which to watch first! Also, am I alone in being slightly depressed because tonight is the mid season finale of The Walking Dead? :/ Lamesauce.

But speaking of Dexter, I wanted to share this portrait I drew of him last year. ¬†This is the most recent portrait I’ve drawn in quite some time, which kinda sucks because drawing is something I really enjoy doing. ¬†Lately though, it’s just been hard to focus and put any heart into it. ¬†I don’t bother picking up a pencil if I know I won’t have the patience to pay attention the minute details. ¬†I don’t want my drawings to be lackluster.

I’m proud of this one though.

What are some of your favorite TV shows?

(Also, remember to check out my Q&A post! ¬†You’re welcome to ask me any question(s) you want in the comments!)
