It just isn’t Christmas without stress and emotional trauma

I am relishing this moment of peace and solitude.

Because the rest of this month is going to be CRAZY HECTIC with a capital FUCK.

There was an accident last week at the restaurant where I work involving a family member and a gas powered smoker.  Long story short (and without giving away too many personal details), the gas ignited when she tried to light it (as she always has in the past) and it blew up in her face resulting in several severe burns.  Luckily, she’ll be alright.  However, it couldn’t have happened at a worse time.  My heart goes out to her.

I’m covering her shifts now until she’s able to work again, but no one really knows how long that will be.  Most definitely until the beginning of the year at least, but probably even longer than that.  My schedule is going to be PACKED for a while, but that’s not really the point.  I’m just glad the situation isn’t any worse than what it is.

The downside to working all the time now is that I’ve been putting off finishing my Christmas shopping and now I need to find some time to squeeze it in before it’s too late.  I’m thinking about just ordering everything off Amazon!  I’ve never been much of an online shopper, but what better time than now to start?

Should be easy enough.

Okay, maybe not THAT easy.  It was worth a try.

In some other unrelated news, I have plans for this blog and countless other things (recipes, craft projects, etc.) but unfortunately I think it will all have to wait until after the new year to come to fruition.  I’m just going to take this time to focus on what’s really important – my family, my job, and (hopefully) making the holidays as happy and exciting as possible.
